Return to Project pageFrom fighting food apartheid, to converting an urban food desert into a food oasis is what this Farm does. A focus on growing cleaner greener foods for children at risk in less fortunate communities is not an easy task. However, “Farmer Chippy” spearheaded the effort to create The Plantation Park Heights Urban Farm. The process includes cleaning out a brownfield and constructing 120 raised beds and 3 hoop houses. The Cleaner Greener Foods team utilizes mushroom compost to improve the growth of a diverse food bank for this ethnically diverse population. In so doing they have helped educate children and received numerous recognition awards for improving health, peace and camaraderie in this historic Caribbean neighborhood.
